Sydney Water

The Sydney Water Data Centre was nearing the end of its useful life and ready for a major upgrade. The project involved the refurbishment of the existing fully operational data centre with the intent to improve the redundancy and maintainability of the existing data centre.

Barnwell Cambridge was engaged under a Design and Construct Contract to consolidate the data centre into a refurbished environment complete with modern energy efficiencies, and to allow the facility to double its data centre floor space capacity. Additionally, Barnwell Cambridge was engaged to complete a design to allow for the maintenance of electrical systems, whilst maintaining IT power. Thereby creating redundancy to IT and Mechanical Equipment through the re-configuration of the electrical supplies.

The project included the supply, installation, and commissioning of:

⦁ Consumer Mains and sub mains.
⦁ Main switchboards and Distribution Boards.
⦁ Power and Communications Cable Pathways.
⦁ Power Factor Correction.
⦁ General Power.
⦁ General lighting.
⦁ Surge protection and earth system.
⦁ Lighting control system.
⦁ Communications backbone and structured cabling.
⦁ Security Services.

The project was recognised as a State Finalist at the NECA industry awards.
