Taronga Zoo – Entry Precinct

Opened in 1916 with a few exhibitions, Taronga Zoo has a grand history of displaying animals in the natural environments together with providing world leading research and care to all creature great and small. Barnwell Cambridge were awarded the design and construct contract to provide the electrical services for the renovation and upgrade of the heritage listed Taronga Zoo Upper Entry Precinct.

The scope on this project included the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and placing into service, all associated electrical services. Careful planning on the removal and demolition of existing electrical services together with the provision of temporary services to maintain operations and patronage of the facilities, whilst works were being undertaken was a key site operation. The site team worked in close collaboration with the heritage consultants, to ensure the aesthetics were maintained while installing all new services, and the refurbishment of vintage light fittings.
